In search of gweeb

Gweeb is in there somewhere - he’s not Kermit and he’s not a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. He’s not a realistic frog. Still, he has to have some construction. Without those basic underlying shapes, he wiggles around the page like Jello.

Here’s another page from today’s sketching with a bunch of Buffaloafs. I’m still searching for those rare expressions. These are all pretty generic.

While I like cartoons that break free from the model sheets, from directors like John K, Chuck Jones and Tex Avery, I know I need to nail down the design of these guys first. For reference, check out the excellent and funny design of Charlie the Dog by Chuck Jones or these characters in Tex Avery’s Deputy Droopy.
