These spook-tacular stamps featuring the famous Universal monsters crept into the US Ghost Office in 1997 and were loved by boys and ghouls everywhere!
The original artwork for each image was painted with watercolor on paper by an artist named Thomas Blackshear II.
My set is in pretty bad shape, so I thought I’d scan these stamps in while I still had them. I had a Frankenstein’s Monster mousepad, too, but it became really grimy from use. The only classic monster missing from this set, for me, is Creature from the Black Lagoon.
Which one is your favorite?

I have this same set myself my friend! Love love love it, can’t beat those classic monsters! I never really pondered which is my favorite, but looking at the scans above…hmmm…I’d have to say good old Dracula is mine. That look and those flesh tones. Whew! Great stuff.
I would also like to add that my sheet is in perfect, mint condition. Heh heh. Couldn’t resist!
Dracula doesn’t suck. Hahaha haha! ha.
It’s hard for me to believe that these are watercolor paintings, but I guess if you’re really good you can paint skin like that. I just make big muddy messes.
